RESEARCH & PROJECTS
I'm an artist researcher working in the context of the natural sciences as well as in the context of the visual arts. Many of my research projects are around materials (structure and properties of materials, the connotations of materials and their use). Although I apply a multiplicity of research methods, all my research projects are based on visual, respectively sensuous approaches during the research process, as well as for the communication of the research process and research results. This website presents some of my research related to materials:
- art materials and related production processes, with a special focus on natural dyes and pigments.
- uniqueness of materials & site specifity
- use of materials, connotations and meanings
- crystal structures, modular structures, periodic space structures and periodic surfaces
- felt knowledge
- immaterial cultural heritage
- manifesting the research process
My art work is presented on: www.ankezuern.com |

LABOR FÜR STRUKTUR UND FARBE - BIEL/BIENNE |

|
|
|
The "Labor für Struktur und Farbe" (structure and color lab) is my new research lab, situated in the General-Dufourstrasse in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland.
It will start operating in spring 2013.
The "Labor für Struktur und Farbe" is designed as a continuously operating art-research-installation and will manifest my ongoing research projects on colors (especially natural dyes and pigments), as well as on space structures and periodic surfaces. It thus combines my research in the context of chemistry, crystallography, and materials science with my research in the context of the visual arts and design, under the umbrella of an artistic research approach.
The "Labor für Struktur und Farbe Biel/Bienne" is open to also host neighboring artists' activities. |
